The Ancient Castle (a military fortress)
The itinerary starts from Piazza Fiorucci (Fiorucci square), opposite the Castle ruins. Here we can admire what remains of the entrance to the ancient fortress, that was built in the Lombard period, around the VIII century A.D. It was the bailiff seat and a military outpost, the pentagonal donjon was used for sighting and defense. It is commonly called “ Rocca” (fortress).
