The Shrine of our Lady of Remedies
The sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies was built in the early sixteenth century, for a miracle: the Virgin had appeared to some girls and some nuns of the local Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria del Ponte. For this reason he had become a center of Marian devotion so intense that, in the seventeenth century, was enlarged and partly rebuilt on the existing Romanesque church outside. According to tradition, in 1224, in this place spent the night San Francisco back from La Verna, after receiving the Stigmata, and where it was formed at the same time, a hermitage of Franciscan Friars Minor. The Church is located to the south, along the provincial road to Umbertide, just over a kilometer away from Pietralunga. The second Sunday of September each year is celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Remedies.
